Committees at Beth El
Tikkun Olam (Social Justice) Committee
Chair: Libby Harris
Tikkun Olam means “repairing the world.” This committee works to bring our responsibility for social justice– on local and global levels – to the forefront of our community, and creates opportunities to engage in this work.
Shomrim (Guardians) Committee
Chair: Suzy Yucht
To be a shomer is to be a guardian for another. In Jewish tradition, we are called to support one another in times of lifecycle shifts. The Shomrim Committee helps plan meals and visits for families who are experiencing a birth, illness, or death. They also facilitate the hevre kaddisha (ritual burial society) at Beth El.
Education Committee
Chair: Nancy Nardone
The Education Committee works with the Education Director to help run and guide the Judaism School and Family holidays and events.
Shabbat Committee
Chair: Robyn Kozierok
This committee is responsible for creating and running our successful Green Mountain Shabbat programming. The committee helps articulate the meaning of Shabbat in the broader culture at Congregation Beth El, and identifies ways of supporting this vision.
Outreach Committee
Chair: Judy Schwartz
The committee plans events and makes contacts and connections with people who may be interested in learning what Beth El has to offer. It also helps new members as they get to know the community.
Adamah (earth) Committee
Chair: Dan Taub
Adamah supports ways in which Beth El can become greener, particularly in regards to buildings and grounds, food and events, and the office.
